Background
My professional background encompasses working in both South Africa and New Zealand.
This includes working in special needs education as a teacher and school principal for many years in South Africa, presenting expressive art therapy workshops, lecturing in theories of psychology and communication at Varsity College, Life Line Crisis Counselling and Famsa Marriage and Guidance Counselling.
In New Zealand my professional background included working as a psychologist for the Ministry of Education, West Auckland, where I was supporting children with challenging behaviour and/or special needs in kindergarten and junior schools, running parenting courses, working with mothers with antenatal anxiety and depression as a perinatal maternal mental health practitioner and as a generic counsellor with the general population for a Māori Medical and Mental Health Centre, prior to working in private practice.
